Playa Manuel Antonio, Manuel Antonio

4.2
Within a national park, Playa Manuel Antonio allows you to combine a bit of history with a lot of classic sun-and-sand fun. The stone turtle traps here bear witness to the area's pre-Colombian tribes, while a family-friendly vibe and plenty of sandy space invite visitors to picnic or play sports. Backed by lush vegetation, the beach remains a popular spot for swimming, surfing, and soaking up some warm Caribbean sun. The surrounding area boasts an impressive diversity of wildlife, including over 100 species of mammals and nearly 200 species of birds. • It's $16 to enter the park and we paid $20 each for a guide, which was definitely worth it. We went at 7am with Efrain's Nature Tours and the guides were friendly, knowledgeable and passionate. They h...  more »
  • It is 3-4 hours from San José by bus, you can go and return on the same day but the best thing is to stay to take advantage of most of the day in the Park. The buses leave the Tracopa terminal and have two routes, a direct coming to the beach and another that leads to Quepos and there take another bus to get to the beach. The entrance to the Park can be paid with card and they do not allow to enter alcohol and some types of food are also prohibited. If you pay a guide only to teach nature that is seen on the road with your camera lenses that insurance are best to that which carries most but is not something worth so much, in addition that the rates are not regulated and are negotiated at the time. All beaches within the Park are incredible and worth knowing them all.

  • This area looks tired and non stop hustlers trying to sell you this and that like cigars noise makers and local carvings. They'll even come up to you while you're eating privately in restaurant. The sand isn't the whitest not water clear; the waves are better for beginner surfing than swimming. they'll even convince you to park and pay and are very convincing if you don't know better... just find a spot on the main or side streets
  • Nice, but the water is to dangerous for kids and people that they are experts in swimming.
  • Possibly the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen!
  • Amazing Beach it's public and beautiful you get to see monkeys! Make sure to go at low tide since most of the Beach disappears at high tide.
  • Great get away spot, jet ski & moped rentals, friendly locals.
