Playa Manuel Antonio, Manuel Antonio

4.2
Within a national park, Playa Manuel Antonio allows you to combine a bit of history with a lot of classic sun-and-sand fun. The stone turtle traps here bear witness to the area's pre-Colombian tribes, while a family-friendly vibe and plenty of sandy space invite visitors to picnic or play sports. Backed by lush vegetation, the beach remains a popular spot for swimming, surfing, and soaking up some warm Caribbean sun. The surrounding area boasts an impressive diversity of wildlife, including over 100 species of mammals and nearly 200 species of birds. • Visited the beach during the guided park tour. Nice beach but very crowded. Monkeys and raccoons that have been fed by humans too many times (damn humans). Now these animals are habituated to humans a...  more »
  • This was my favorite place we went to. Both beaches are swimming beaches and absolutely beautiful. The beach on the right had less people and that’s where we spent our day. You need to keep an eye on ...  more »
  • It is a beach that is in the reserve, you must buy the ticket to go, it is very nice, but so is the rest of the coast.

  • This area looks tired and non stop hustlers trying to sell you this and that like cigars noise makers and local carvings. They'll even come up to you while you're eating privately in restaurant. The sand isn't the whitest not water clear; the waves are better for beginner surfing than swimming. they'll even convince you to park and pay and are very convincing if you don't know better... just find a spot on the main or side streets
  • Nice, but the water is to dangerous for kids and people that they are experts in swimming.
  • Possibly the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen!
  • Amazing Beach it's public and beautiful you get to see monkeys! Make sure to go at low tide since most of the Beach disappears at high tide.
  • Great get away spot, jet ski & moped rentals, friendly locals.

Where to stay in Manuel Antonio

Limits on development keep options out of Manuel Antonio National Park itself. You will find a selection of accommodations just outside the park, near the entrance. The mainly mid-range options there typically offer swimming pools and complimentary breakfast, as well as convenient access to the nearby Playa Espadilla. For more luxurious options, consider the hotels and resorts around Playa Playitas. If you're after something more budget-friendly, stay in the township of Manuel Antonio.
