Champs-Elysees, Paris

3.5
#2 of 1,594 in Shopping in France
Perhaps the most famous shopping boulevard in the world, Champs-Elysees contains some of the most prestigious stores and cafes in Paris. While walking among the gardens and tree-lined promenades, you may encounter an open-air marionette theatre for children, a French tradition popular through the ages. You'll see several monuments as you stroll along the street, including the Obelisk of Luxor and the Arc de Triomphe. The lower part is bordered by greenery, while further west you'll find cinemas, cafes, restaurants, and luxury specialty shops. • Ideal for strolling across the Avenue, enjoy all kinds of shops and typical sweets of Paris (macarons). At the end of the Avenue is a beautiful Ferris wheel.

  • "On the Champs-Elysees, in the Sun, in the rain, at noon or midnight, there's everything you want", so says the music of Joe Dassin, and it's true. The Champs-Elysees, the famous Paris Avenue, is a construction zone, with many offices, shops, cinemas, bars and cafés. It is a very busy area, but appealing to a walk during the day and during the night. In November, when we travel to Paris, the Avenue was already decorated for Christmas. Between the Arc de Triomphe and the Place de la Concorde, the trees were illuminated with LED, creating a fantastic atmosphere and very romantic.

  • Walk down the Champs-Elysees is like being in a movie. It's all beautiful, full of people, full of colors and cool stores.

  • Love their burger sauce. Double patty also helps. Tastes real good. You need to set your expectations properly- this is not a gourmet burger. For a fast food joint, burger is solid.
  • Even for a fast food restaurant quality is very low. Food isn't tasty, restaurant is dirty, design is bad. If you want to eat an hamburger better go to McDonald's which is just a few meters higher on the street.
  • Quick is the French competitor to McDonald's. I just came in for a soda on a hot day. The service was pretty quick. The restrooms were clean, but they are located downstairs, and I didn't see any possibility for wheelchair access. There's nothing special about Quick, but you may want to eat here to try a French fast-food restaurant. It's not French cuisine; it's fast food.
  • I bought cheesy bites - they have no cheese in it. It's only flour. Don't come here. They're cheats. Also, when you ask for a drink, they don't ask you for your drink preference. I asked for ice tea, and got peach ice tea instead of lemon. Thoroughly disappointed
  • The burgers are not amazing but with a better and perhaps different flavour from MickyDs. Yet, if you are hungry but with a tight budget and you are touring around champs elysées, then this is your option. The place is packed practically all day and the staff are cold and rather unfriendly so be patient, as it may take some of your precious time.

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
