Louvre Museum, Paris

4.6
#1 of 1,819 in Museums in France
With an impressive collection of 30,000 pieces, it's nearly impossible to see all of Louvre Museum. The three "Great Ladies,” Venus de Milo, Winged Victory of Samothrace, and Mona Lisa, may be the museum’s most well-known attractions. The Michelangelo gallery is just one of 30-plus galleries, each with a theme, such as bronze. Masterpieces aren't the only pieces that stand out. Religious artifacts include a fragment of the Egyptian Book of the Dead on papyrus. Even more impressive is the Code of Hammurabi from the Mesopotamian civilization. English-language tours are available on several days, but you need advance registration. Join a city museum tour or order tickets in advance so you won't wait in a long line to gain entry. I visit this extraordinary Museum since my childhood and I can not always enough. I advise you to plan your visit over several days, because it is really huge. And buy your tickets online if you are not of European nationality. Great tour!

Really is a forced dhaniram since the edifocio itself is already a wonder and or that works of art that jablar in the are. It is a vosita that takes you all day if you want to see a lot but in lugarez where to eat. The same comes a time that you have to leave. I advise to buy tickets soon to avoid queues.

If you can only visit one museum in your entire life, this is the one. You can easily spend an entire day or two and still not see everything the Louvre has to offer. Definitely get here an a hour before the museum opens as the line get long and stays long all day during the weekend and during the summer. Please remember you can take photographs and video but nothing with flash or any artificial lights since the light will damage the paint and color. Please help protect these cherished artwork so future generations can enjoy these treasures. As an Egyptian artwork and artifact fan, the Louvre's Egyptian exhibit is the largest outside Egypt and is definitely worth the visit. Also remember to look up, as the ceilings of the Louvre are works of art themselves.

While I was traveling in Europe for the 'Map Your World Week' Google #LocalGuides (ask for more info if interested). In my second time in Paris and I keep loving to visit this museum. However their Customer Service has decreasing in its quality in less than 2 years. Staff are not friendly and in the border to be rude. If you are not prepared to work in the Hospitality Industry, then do not do it! - the quantity of visitors per day can not affect the quality of the service that they must provide..

This was my third visit and the Louvre just keeps on getting better. I particularly enjoyed the Greek statues, which are beautifully presented in a gallery with plenty of light and space, except just in front of the Venus de Milo which was mobbed by fans with mobile cameras. The Middle East collection of Assyrian urban sculpture is also most impressive. Lunch is fast food, but even this meal is well worth eating. We got drenched in the queue waiting to be security checked, which unfortunately has no weather protection. Bring your brolly or poncho. To an Aussie this rain was pretty surprising.

Amazing. The sheer quantity and variety of exhibits is staggering. Whilst the more well known pieces are of course a must, there is the usual crowd and jostling for a view/photos. Worthwhile is seeking out the side galleries off of the main hall (especially with the Italian painter gallery) as these are practically empty and there are some hidden treasures such as Canaletto's that can be studied at leisure. The second floor, if you can find it, is like having a private viewing - VERY few people and some remarkable works both in clarity and size.

World's largest museum should tell you that this thing is HUGE! I wish I had 3 whole days to go through it.. I think it would take around that long to see and read everything. Will definitely be back. Layout is really cool and goes by time periods or different areas. Paints, art, and artifacts are amazing. I loved the Egyptian area. The Mona Lisa is crazy busy! The people around it has forced the ropes far away just because of the sheer amount of people wishing to photograph. Architecture and the pyramid outside are amazing. Very beautiful and enormous building. Lines are very busy and prices were a lot. There is a stop on the metro for the Louvre, so it might be easier to park somewhere else and take the metro to here (that's what we did).

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
