Noboribetsu Bear Park, Noboribetsu

3.3
#2 of 62 in Wildlife in Hokkaido
Meet the inhabitants of Noboribetsu Bear Park, an animal observation facility located at the summit of the mountain. Separated by age and sex, the 200 brown bears here have been raised in the facility, with the institution growing from a population of just eight in 1958. Head into the "cage for humans" to see the bears from their own perspective, and feed them salmon and meatballs, which you can buy on site. A museum reveals the history of brown bears on the island, their behavior in the wild, and their cultural importance to the indigenous population. Plan your visit to Noboribetsu Bear Park and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Noboribetsu tourist route planner.

Do ensure you cater enough time to visit the park as you need to take Gondola up and down (suggest 3-4hrs including breaks). Once you are up at the bear park, there is a interesting duck race (pay 100...  more »

I went with part of Sapporo. In the aerial tramway to the top of the mountain. Roundtrip and admission fees are high but I think it. Compared to other bear Ranch is overvalued. It's fun giving aside, bear bait. The catch throws, accustomed to the human female wants to make food because I want to give bear went lol on weekdays, but why stop bear event today! Sorry too!

Enjoy the thrill of a bear is. That, however, is unfortunately expensive. I think less than 10000 yen, not a casual rates in four families and include parking fees. You're the first, the last visit.

Cute bears there. Asking for cookies with many kinds of cute tricks such as waving hands or put it's both hands together to beg for cookie. And they have nice skill of catching cookie. 熊超可愛的 會揮手、拜託求餅乾

Bears were crammed into a small concrete enclosure and looked very stressed. There are way too many bears there. Yes, you will see bears, but if you are empathetic, you will wish you hadn't.

Very interesting animal Park, unfortunately we missed some of the exhibits and events due to weather. Price is a little steep compared to most zoos/similar, but it includes a gondola ride into the mountains with a beautiful view of the canyon community of Noboribetsu.

Highly not recommended. Felt so sad when looking at the bear begging and fighting for food.

A fun place for kids. Up close to the bears

Where to stay in Noboribetsu

The majority of places to stay in Noboribetsu lie inland, to the north of the main train station. Close to the hot springs and the volcanic valley, accommodations lie on all the streets across the modest urban area of the resort town. Many people see staying in traditional "ryokan" (guesthouses) as part of the experience, but some more modern hotels can be found across town, too. Visitors primarily look to find an option with onsite "onsen" (traditional Japanese hot spring spas), although you can always arrange a visit to one if not.
