Kids Plaza Osaka, Osaka

4.3
#4 of 46 in Museums in Osaka
Take the kids to Kids Plaza Osaka, a museum aimed squarely at children, helping them learn through play. Across five themed floors, the museum has kids climbing on surreal structures designed by Austrian architect Friedensreich Hundertwasse, teaching to play weird and wonderful musical instruments from around the world, or becoming police or postal workers in the make-believe town on the fourth floor. You can find plenty more activities on site, and although there is no cafeteria, you're welcome to bring a packed lunch, or can come and go as you please during the visit by showing your pass. • My 6yo daughter and 3yo son loved the Kids Plaza in spite of the language barrier. We spent about 2.5 hours inside where they both could freely run around and touch things, while I sat comfortably. Th...  more »
  • My 1400 Yen entrance fee alone cost money at random. And noisy. In paying the money, the kids want to play? Aquarium and the Museum of the small children and adults alike can enjoy many times. And 2 degrees.

  • This is a mini version of the children's Science Museum established in the Kansai TV. You can learn while playing on a variety of areas, such as science and technology and media. Also on Saturdays and Sundays as well as cooking special events too. Running swirling maze-like Tower, slide, and play place because we have children. Outside there is a large park, outside can be able to play in one place one day at play.

  • Wonderful place to bring the kids. My son (3.5 years) loved the place. There are many activities to do with the intention of teaching scientific concepts. Although he is too young to understand, the various stations and activities entertained him for 5 hours. He especially loved the various musical instruments from around the world, let's face it which kid wouldn't? He got to bang, drum, strum, shake, ring various instruments. Loved it. When the place closed, he started crying and sobbing because he wanted to stay and play. This is not usual for him as he is usually fine to leave when we tell him. And he wasn't the only kid showing signs that they can't bear to leave. Shows how much the place attracts children. Worth a visit if you have about half the day, otherwise dealing with the kid(s) who are cranky about leaving might not be the best for the rest of the day/night.
  • Definitely plan to spend more than an hour here. Probably two-and-a-half just to really spend time on everything. It doesn’t matter if you have a wiggly kid or a science kid or a quiet kid, they all will find a space here. Our 6- and 10-year-old has a really great time. Kids are encouraged to touch and try and question. A lot of fun!
  • A fantastic place to let your 3 to 10 years old to spend a day. It has role play, some science exhibition ( somehow the items were placed for 20 years or more), one of the major showdown is television broadcasting. It's a real time show and the staffs are friendly to let your kid complete a weather forecast reporting.
  • Very interactive for kids to have fun and learn. There's a science floor which teaches kids about physics, math, biology, nature etc, but in a fun, hands on way. There is an area for kids to be immersed in daily work life. Dress up as a post man and deliver mail; work in a supermarket or just have fun on the big slide or traverse the cargo bridge. Warning, 10-2 is busy with school kids, really really busy.
  • Loads of fun for the kids. Sciency? Sure... But the kids don't know that. Your ticket lasts a whole day too. Spend the morning there, go have lunch, come back in the evening.
