Osaka Castle, Osaka

4.0
Built and rebuilt numerous times since 1653, Osaka Castle looms over its surrounding gardens, moats, imposing stone walls, gates, and turrets. Take the elevator up to the observation deck on the castle’s eighth floor, or wander the garden between the complex’s many structures, stopping in the tea house for a snack. The castle, originally intended to help with the unification of Japan, was captured and changed hands over a dozen times. Visit the museum within to learn more about the castle’s history. • Architecture, like Kurosawa films, such as the magnificent atmosphere. You pay the symbolic entrance fee. A two way direction up the stairs, down the other direction. A very spacious garden, student groups are no less.

  • Osaka Castle is another key Ascend Marcelo LAN who everyone should visit in Osaka. Aspects, in addition to the Castle, there is also a cute, coffee and confectionery and souvenirs too. If the coming holidays, there will be a hat show.

  • There's no need to bother to get into most of the opinion. They can also climb to the top don't know anything specifically scenery inside the ones reluctant to get on the show as the South Koreans.

  • The castle looks awesome from the outside. Lots of nice parks to walk around. The line to get in wasn't to bad. Was a bit of a queue for the lift tho. It was really modern on the inside witch i wasn't expecting. Would have liked to have seen what it looked like back in the day. The top viewing platform was so busy i couldn't even move. Still worth it though.
  • Osaka castle like many others in Japan had been rebuilt over the years due to fires and the effects of war. While beautiful, it does look modern , a reflection of it's rebuild in 1996. There is a viewing platform on level 8. I suggest heading up all the way, get a good view and then head down. The story about the person who built the castle is interesting but staying to read about it is only worthwhile if you care about Japanese medieval history. Be prepared for the largest tourist groups that visit this place. The floors are narrow and can get crowded. The moat around the castle is stunning especially the depth and the large granite stones that are used to form it. Good photo opportunities from the castle wall to photograph the castle at the entrance.
  • This castle is a unique experience with the moat going around it and the towering central structure. The view is very unobstructed from the outside allowing visitors the opportunity to decide whether they want to pay the admission fee. I personally did not as the view from outside was great. There were a few tourists around but it didn't feel crowded. Occasionally they may have illuminated light shows between certain periods such as now (winter, December 2017).
  • The view from the outside and from the top floor are amazing, but for me the inside of the castle is too modern. The art is beautiful and I thought all of the information was fascinating as you go from floor to floor. It is just missing what makes some of the structures so special in Japan and that is the historical feel. All and all it is still worth a visit when you come to Osaka.
  • Very amazing castle one of my personal favourites. You might ask yourself is it worth going to the top and yes it is. You learn lots of cool things inside and get to see some nice armour and swords! Highly recommended if you are in the city.
