Grand Cenote, Tulum

4.2
#2 of 19 in Nature in Tulum
Swim and snorkel in the crisp cold waters of Grand Cenote, a flooded cavern with a jetty, affording easy access to a wonderful subterranean pool. Scuba diving excursions are available, but you’ll be able to see a lot from the surface with your goggles, including strange rock formations and terrapins heading to the surface. The beautiful surroundings make a great place to have a picnic before returning to the pool. Keep your eyes peeled for the iguanas and peacocks that roam the surrounding area. • The place is bellismo, many people give you snorkel and vest with the entry. A unique experience, UNFORGETTABLE!

  • It is a gorgeous cenote where snorkeling can be done, but there are too many tourists, which makes it a little difficult diving. I would recommend go to the end or the beginning of the day, because it is quieter. It is too expensive.

  • One of the best experiences I've ever had in my life... is something that you must do at least once in life... my recommendation is to visit the earliest... Since there is a lot of people from 12 noon...

  • Very impressive. This is one of the few attractions in the area that I've been to that lived up it what I expected based on it's advertisements. It's insainly beautiful, the water is clear the cave formations are amazing, it not huge and was very busy but didn't feel crowded and had a lot of almost hidden areas. The turtles are a smaller variety common on most of this continent but they actually swim right by you. There are fish, not exciting tropical colourful ones but a few varieties. There is a grass area you can sun bath on that's pretty nice and hammocks to lay around in so it's easy to spend hours. 180p for entry, snorkeling equipment for rent 60p? I think. Free parking, washrooms, showers and if your kids swim it's great for them. There is some sort of store/cafeteria but I only noticed it when we where leaving and it was closed. I'm going back for sure.
  • It's incredible to see through the clear water off the cenote and as you get closer to the walls of the cave, you can see that it stops off into an endless dark underwater pit. It's so cool and creepy! Lots of people and about 100 pesos to get in. You'll definitely want snorkeling great so bring some! There's a special for hammocks and sun bathing and on a hot day... The water is just right 👌
  • This was the only cenote I went to and I loved it. It was beautiful, I got to see a lot of turtles. I believe it was also a good deal, between entrance fee and snorkel rent. Just don't let the name trick you: it's not very big, you can do everything you need in two hours or less.
  • Great place to visit. There are lockers available downstairs at the cenote itself and changing rooms and showers up top. Snorkels and life vests are also available at a small cost and you need to leave your driving licence as deposit when you rent these. Best to arrive early as it gets busy later on. There are some fish in the water and the caves have bats.
  • 100 pesos entry and you'll need a towel. It costs a little bit more to hire a locker and rent snorkelling gear if you don't have your own. Amazing place, crystal clear waters for snorkelling and for the more adventurous, scuba diving. Keep and eye out for the turtles!
