  • Good for a good day outing, parking available and also connected to taxi services and public transport facilities. Restaurants and coffee shops are nearby  more »
  • The House, in which the museum is located, is in itself worth a visit. The history of Omabn is in an easy-to-read, albeit somewhat curt manner.

  • The Museum is near the Mutrah souk and tells the story of Oman. Small and can be visited in less than half an hour but has a nice collection of pictures of how it was in the past and even the building which was Muscat a private house of the nineteenth century is worth a look.

  • A recommended place to visit while in Muscat. In 40 minutes you get the gist of this beautiful city dating back from the dinosaur period.
  • A place NOT TO BE MISSED during a visit to muscat. Actually, I visited this place twice, because I didnt have enough of it from the first time. An old Omani house converted into a museum for local culture and omani history. The interior is an architectural masterpiece especially the woodwork, spaces and light. Some of the rooms has been converted into media tools to explain the geological formation of Omaan as well as history timeline.
  • Beautiful small museum displaying the rich history!
  • This is one of the historical and cultural sites in Muscat, known also as the House of Naseeb. He was the merchant Naseeb Bin Mohammed who built the house in the late nineteenth century. “Al Barandah” is the local pronunciation of the foreign word “veranda”, which means “balcony”. The House was named after the balcony that extends along the length of the façade on the first floor. The museum recounts the history of Muscat since its geological formation to the present day, using interactive technology that displays pictures of tectonic plate movement over the past 750 million years until today, showing the activity that formed the continents in the past and how they will change over the next 250 million years. The museum also includes documentation of the Sultanate of Oman’s history since its inception to the present day.
  • Went here for a school trip very nice!
