  • Private museum, one of the oldest in Muscat...has excellent display of male/female Omani attire, jewellery, old architecture, timeline of camera from old box camera, .....ancient furniture of the house owner....ancient swords, guns, daggers to models of houses, dam........amazing collection.....MUST visit if u are in Muscat & have enjoyed the beaches.....
  • Nice place to visit as I spent a weekend in Oman. Has the historic features and is close by to the souk and other touristy parts of muscat. Very close to the water too. The national museum and the palace is only a short walk away too do you can enjoy a good few hours at this location. Very clean and beautiful. Definitely worth a cost when you spend the weekend in the city or country. Very cheap to get in too.
  • The museum has a very large collection of antiques. They were preserved in a very nice way. It is really worth visiting at least once. The collection is so much that you need at least a days time to visit all sections.
  • The Bait Al Zubair Museum, located next to the National Museum of Oman, showcases the private collection of Muscat's Al Zubair family. The collection chronicles Oman's history and consists of specially selected, inherited or donated pieces spanning a number of centuries and regions that reflect Oman’s rich cultural heritage and unique identity. The artifacts include traditional Omani weaponry, jewellery, costumes, household utensils, furniture, coins, stamps and musical instruments. Unfortunately taking photographs inside the museum building itself was not permitted. I have included some here of the artifiacts (e.g. colourful oryx) in the garden surrounding the museum building. It was so darn hot and sunny, 46 deg, when we were there b ut well worth it. Many of my photos here are overexposed but still will give you a feel for the place.
  • Outstanding museum! Comprises of sections in separate houses . In the model of the old Omani house, there is a small cafe bar where you can order refreshments. You will be served by my friendly Pilipino compatriots. I haven't been to the National Museum but I think Bait Al Zubair is already complete for an Omani museum experience.
