  • I booked my tour with Yahya from Oman Wayfarers. I did a city tour and the Mosque is at the top of that list!! My advice is get there just after 0800 and do a tour or have a guide. The interior and ex...  more »
  • After seeing the Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi this comparison seems "minimal", but it doesn't. Very beautiful both outside and inside, the huge rug that covers the main hall is from the Arabian nights not to mention the wooden ceilings and crystal chandeliers. At the end of the visit you can spend at the library and you are greeted with tea or Arabic coffee and dates and by the friendly Manager who pauses to talk with visitors wondering where they came from. Worth going to even if it is necessary for women to dress extremely "covered".

  • Sultan Qaboos grand mosque is one of the magnificent building to see. Main prayer room contains beautiful marbles and hand stitched carpets. But the main attraction is the chandelier hanging on the roof. Mosque is open for any visitor from 8am to 11am. All women must wear clothes that cover whole body and need to cover hair with a scarf. Men can't wear shorts. Entrance to the mosque is free. You can rent automated guide system from entrance for 2.5 riyals, you'll get lot of information listening to it.
  • Fantastic architecture and great exterior space. The buildings have a distinctive style with remarkable design and construction quality and the different exterior walkways allow the visitor to admire and appreciate the scale of the constructions. The materials used are top quality as well as the design details that refer to Islamic and Arabic architecture with actual quality standard. When in Muscat, this is a place anyone should visit.
