#1 of 6 in Parks in Ad-Dakhiliyah Governorate
Take a drive up to Jebel Akhdar, a scenic part of the Al Hajar mountain range. The mountainous area doesn't appear green at first glance, surprising hikers exploring its higher parts with a labyrinth of dry riverbeds and terraces that harbor lush gardens and fruit orchards. You'll need a 4WD to get up to the plateau, but when you reach the verdant area surrounded by rocky cliffs, you can enjoy picturesque views of the terrace farms and tiny villages, known for their prized pomegranates, apples, roses, and other plants that thrive here. • A dam you not continue your route if you don't have a 4 x 4. We have a small day for the road of the djebbel. The Oman off Road is well at 45' AR utile.30 to go to the ruins in the wadi Bani Habib. The three villages are superb with a special bonus in Al Ayn, where you can walk on the terraces

  • A must see place if you ever visit this beautiful country called the Sultanate of Oman. Don't miss it on your itinerary please.
  • Nice place to visit any time of the year. Beautiful sceneries
  • Less than 2 Hr drive From muscat City. Nice place for a one day trip
  • The word "Jabal Akhdhar" means "Green Mountain" in english. After visiting the place, You can easily make why this place is named so. The journey to Jabal Akhdhar begins with finalization of car you want to use for the journey. There are no other means of travel other than cars. Due to steep slopes and high gradients, it is mandatory to drive in 4WD vehicle only. Even they have a ROP (Royal Oman Police ) check post at the beginning of Journey. They will instruct you to engage 4WD during descend necessarily. In case you do not have a 4WD vehicle, no need to return back. You can rent a 4WD car in Birkat al Mouj which is a town located in the base of the mountain range. It can cost you something like 25-40 OMR / per day (limited to 170-200 kms. drive). Once you have the right vehicle, you are ready to hit the road. You will have to drive around 25-30 kms. steep slopes to reach the place. As you ascend the thermometer display will keep on dropping. There could be a difference of around 12-15 degrees from the temperature in plain areas in Oman. Please bring woolens suitable to handle the cold climate. There are not many places in Jabal Akhdhar specifically to visit, so enjoy with your own activities like camping, barbequing, playing etc. You should definitely visit Wadi bani habib where you can see lot of greenery with some grains fields and many green trees like Pomegranate, Wallnut, plums etc. There are not many eating options. Hotels are also very few. Hence pre booking is a good idea, if you are travelling with family.
