I was in Madrid nearly 20 years ago and today the disappointment was really great ... poor quality stalls (shirts for nothing nice, socks, clothing stalls freak that you find everywhere and great scrap metal). Really bad.

Be it indicating its name has become a set of cheap goods stalls, where to find the essence is harder everyday, where clothing from Chinese wholesalers stores have been made with a lot of local, and where survive harsh penalties which helped to give it a name. A place full of tourists who walk by his fame. This step will lose any is na's identity.

Madrid trail is located near the area of ambassadors. If you haven't ever been to this trace, is certainly a good idea to spend some time looking at the amount of things that can be sold on it. We have lots of jobs and lots of people, but you can always do mean a stop for snacks in bars that exist around with great deals. Definitely a place to visit at least once if you pass by Madrid.

  • Bigger than most flea markets of Europe. But the content is repeating itself inside. Lots of vendors with the same stuff. But you can find some cool stuff if you really look deep enough. Nice bars, shops around the place. Only open on Sundays. Can get REALLY crowded. To the point where you cant walk. Go there early if you want to avoid it.
  • The place to be Sunday morning in Madrid. Buskers, gypsies selling bargains, mimes, antiques, vintage decoration... Plus there are many good (some after them a bit rundown) bars to have a quick bite to keep you going.
  • HUGE market. It's good to visit if you are a tourist for a day, but the stalls all sell the same things. I can't imagine coming here twice. It was so crowded that we couldn't really move.
  • Avoid this after noon on a nice Sunday. Entirely too crowded and there isn't great stuff for sale. Some lucky antique or unique finds, otherwise nothing special. Not worth the crowd and frustration.
  • Not really for tourists. Vendors will offer outrageous prices and aren't really interested in selling to you. Very crowded. Bring your own lunch. Enjoy the street musicians.

Where to stay in Madrid

The Spanish capital is known for its array of distinct neighborhoods each with its own appeal. An affordable and easy-to-navigate metro system, which makes it is easy to get around Madrid gives you more flexibility in choosing where to stay. Perhaps the most popular choice is Puerta del Sol, the heart of the city center and one of the main tourist attractions with its numerous shops, affordable hotels, and restaurants. Close by is Gran Via street, one of the city's main arteries, which is also home to a number of hotels. A short walk from here is Plaza España where the city's most iconic landmarks lie, including the Royal Palace and the Teatro Royal. For somthing outside the traditional tourist areas, consider staying in La Latina or Malasaña, two bohemian neighborhoods that offer a wide range of eclectic shops, quaint cafes, and lively bars.
