No doubt the home studio of Sorolla transports us to the chromatic universe of the artist, the large screens can be well appreciated. For those who appreciate lets you see how the artist worked the texture and color.

  • What's on offer here is pretty clear: you get to visit (most of) the villa where the artist and his family lived and many of his greatest paintings. For those who admire his work it's a an essential pilgrimage In 2016 there were renovation works on some stairs which meant we could only see half of it, but there is something very special about the place and seeing the works, paintings of his family, original furniture, and some of the equipment he used such as palette and brushes paints etc. The gift shop has an excellent selection of books which allow you to access photos of his entire catalogue, and it's a handy way to see other works not on display. What would be good would be to see his postcard sized studies on display, not just the grand works. For painters, and lovers of art, a great spot worth the walk. The surrounding areas feel very safe and there are one or two cafes nearby if you need to stop for a refreshment nearby. In good weather, the small manicured garden in a restful oasis with some charming sculptures.
  • Great small museum that used to be the family home of this well known Spanish painter. Not recommended for those with limited mobility. Old XIX house, several levels. Any one, kids, welcome. Many schools visit every week day. Organized guided visits and audio guides available.
  • Definitely come here for great photo ops and visual masterpieces. His art and home is beautiful. Everything I laid my eyes on was a piece of art.
  • Sorolla's studio in the house that he built. One of the greatest surprises in Madrid. Well worth visiting
  • If a fan of Sorolla--or interested in fin de siecle design--this museum is a must-see. Takes between 60 and 90 minutes to fully visit. The courtyard is a place of serenity.
