  • Place more interesting visit complementary to other Madrid museums by the richness of its archaeological collection and exhibit works as popular as the Lady of Elche. Recommended.

  • After its refurbishment is a place that does not overwhelm you and is perfect to go with children. The rooms are very clean.

  • It reopened after investing heavily and it shows. 4 hours are needed if you want to see it in detail. There are many "videos" that you make that visit lengthen in excess. I did not take audio guide but it's a good choice. There are several spectacular, small parts but of exceptional quality. They suggest you 10 works that one unmissable but there are quite a few more. On the other hand surprisingly low quality "Roman" parts. Perhaps to know Roman museums these looks loose. Interesting reproduction of the ceiling of the cave of Altamira (his visit is free)

  • Very good for families and solo travelers! Interesting exhibits in a very clear and clean layout with English captions. Great facilities too! Free entry after 2pm is a great addition too!
  • It's nice place. A classical museum with touches of modern (interactive) approach here and there. Going to real places (if you can) adds more to the experience, though.
  • Best History and Archeology museum I've ever visited ! It's really impressive how much we can learn about the world's, Spain's and the Mediterranean's History in there. I visited in 90mn because it was closing after but I advise you to take at least 2h, or even 3h to take your time. Free admission on Saturday afternoon !
  • Amazing and interesting for anyone who likes history and archeology. Excellent visiting experience with rich information that suits experts and non experts alike. I usually get bored about such kind of topics but the excellent media, visuals, and writings made it a very smooth and interesting visit.
  • Beautiful museum! And super interesting. It was renovated in 2014 and the result is impressive. But it is huge so plan ahead a chunck of time.

Where to stay in Madrid

The Spanish capital is known for its array of distinct neighborhoods each with its own appeal. An affordable and easy-to-navigate metro system, which makes it is easy to get around Madrid gives you more flexibility in choosing where to stay. Perhaps the most popular choice is Puerta del Sol, the heart of the city center and one of the main tourist attractions with its numerous shops, affordable hotels, and restaurants. Close by is Gran Via street, one of the city's main arteries, which is also home to a number of hotels. A short walk from here is Plaza España where the city's most iconic landmarks lie, including the Royal Palace and the Teatro Royal. For somthing outside the traditional tourist areas, consider staying in La Latina or Malasaña, two bohemian neighborhoods that offer a wide range of eclectic shops, quaint cafes, and lively bars.
