Palacio de Cibeles, Madrid

4.5
#18 of 1,327 in Things to do in Madrid
Palacio de Cibeles was once the headquarters of the Spanish postal service, but since 2007 the striking white building has served as Madrid City Hall. For a small charge, you can climb or take an elevator up to the observatory area for panoramic views of the city. Purchase your tickets at the information desk on the second floor. The rooftop bar is another good spot for taking in the view. Make sure to check if any exhibitions are running during your visit (there usually are). • On Sunday I went to the feast of the lid. Great, good atmosphere, and good organization. Wait time to enter, but safety comes first.

  • I was in the market of flavors organized by mahou and the truth is that spectacular all. Beautiful décor that dazzles as most in this spectacular courtyard with glass dome.

Where to stay in Madrid

The Spanish capital is known for its array of distinct neighborhoods each with its own appeal. An affordable and easy-to-navigate metro system, which makes it is easy to get around Madrid gives you more flexibility in choosing where to stay. Perhaps the most popular choice is Puerta del Sol, the heart of the city center and one of the main tourist attractions with its numerous shops, affordable hotels, and restaurants. Close by is Gran Via street, one of the city's main arteries, which is also home to a number of hotels. A short walk from here is Plaza España where the city's most iconic landmarks lie, including the Royal Palace and the Teatro Royal. For somthing outside the traditional tourist areas, consider staying in La Latina or Malasaña, two bohemian neighborhoods that offer a wide range of eclectic shops, quaint cafes, and lively bars.
