  • Despite a large area, the lack of investment and maintenance is screaming. What a pity. Apart from a few fine specimen in bloom nothing much extra

  • I think a visit to complete to Madrid, you should have a good time in the morning at the Botanical Garden. Not only by its origin and link to the Museo del Prado (when it still was not), but the pleasant walk along terraces and parterres and, especially, the greenhouse where you can see several different environments on the planet, the most striking being the tropical-ecuatorial. It is worth remembering is the Palace of Villanueva (now closed) which usually host temporary exhibitions at the end (part of above).

  • When u hear the word botanical u have an amazing vision in your mind. Well this was so disappointing and not worth the money spent on the visit. Its nothing special. I've visited many botanical gardens and thus was by far the greatest disappointment of them all. Dont waste your time or money going in there. Its just hedges and paths and nothing great. Even the duck pond was filthy and smelled real bad.
  • A whiff of fresh air in an otherwise very busy area. The contrast between the heavy traffic outside the garden and the peace and quiet inside is striking. I particularly loved to watch the diverse wild life taking refuge in that little corner of heaven,
  • Beautiful botanical garden. Big varity of common edible plants on display as well as flowers. The mood is very relaxing, hard to believe you are next to one of the busiest avenues in Madrid. Entrance fee 4 euros.
  • Nice Botanical garden... well maintained and has a good vibe to come to rest. Also very nice guides who make sure you can learn something new ;-)
  • Certainly some lovely vegetation...even for the casual observer like muself. Spring is an amazing time of year to check it out...tulips in bloom....not too hot. Be sure not to miss the pair of greenhouses tucked away near the restrooms, and also climb the several flights of stairs that hover over the greenhouses to get the full expwrience. This place is attached to the Prado Museum, so it's fairly feasible to do both on one day.

Where to stay in Madrid

The Spanish capital is known for its array of distinct neighborhoods each with its own appeal. An affordable and easy-to-navigate metro system, which makes it is easy to get around Madrid gives you more flexibility in choosing where to stay. Perhaps the most popular choice is Puerta del Sol, the heart of the city center and one of the main tourist attractions with its numerous shops, affordable hotels, and restaurants. Close by is Gran Via street, one of the city's main arteries, which is also home to a number of hotels. A short walk from here is Plaza España where the city's most iconic landmarks lie, including the Royal Palace and the Teatro Royal. For somthing outside the traditional tourist areas, consider staying in La Latina or Malasaña, two bohemian neighborhoods that offer a wide range of eclectic shops, quaint cafes, and lively bars.
