  • We decided to see the website go on Wednesday afternoon to enter the monastery but arrived at 17:01 and we were told that the entrance was until 5 pm even if it was free until 18 h by topics of computer. So we went quickly to the gardens that Yes you could get and is a place that you should go if you go to Madrid and Segovia by proximity. Very well preserved. At 17:45 o'clock already say to go out since in March closed at 18 h. We went back to see the monastery, and if you have opportunity, it is worth entering. There are many areas to visit, very well preserved, and above all, the floor of the basement, where there are several burial rooms were surprised.

  • The Palace thought it was impressive, but not pretty. I loved the library, especially the stellar sphere, but the rest rather low. The luxury of the tombs seemed tremendous. Not do enough us this obsession by trace.

  • If you plan to take the bus 661 or 664 in Madrid, please pay attention , the boarding area in underground area 1 and gate 11. It is on the opposite side of the road for boarding Area 2 and 3. The shop staffs were so tired to direct the people. Once you find it, the rest will be a breeze. I love the town ,too.. Before you board the bus, you might want to go to lower level of the bus station for restroom since there will not be a toilet in Spain long distance bus.
  • Interesting day trip out of Madrid to see where most of the Spanish royal family are buried. The inner chamber is quite elaborate and worth seeing. In the monastery you can also see some famous art works by El Greco, Luca Giordano, and Claudio Coello. The air is clean and fresh and it can be pretty cold in winter so dress warm! There are lots of restaurants and ice cream cafes surrounding the monastery where you can enjoy lunch (or a ice cream) before heading back to madrid.
  • Probably the best preserved palace I habe ever been to, so much furniture, paintings, and other artifacts from as far ago as 25th century. The guide spoke perfect English, and had a great sense of humor. The only downside was that you are not allowed to take any photos inside.
  • Marvelous arquitecture, only an hour away from Madrid. Visiting El Escorial is a must for anyone spending a few days or more in Madrid. Would recommend walking around the monastery as well as doing the tour inside. Mausoleum and library are undoubtedly the best things to see although it's all worth visiting. Very representative of what the rural interior of Spain is truly like.
  • One of the most awesome visits that you can experience while traveling through Madrid. In their rooms you can see how Felipe the 2nd, king of Spain, used to live during the 16th century. Inside the crypt are all the Spanish kings since th 15th century. Magnificent and impressive.
