  • If you visit NYC this is a must place to visit. The exhibits are just wonderful. It is an educational and fun place for children as well as adults. A must see in NYC!  more »
  • After seeing photos and reading extremely positive reviews, I decided to visit the Zoo. This is the first important information, the site is very large, so you'll need some 3 hours to walk by all. Go with a comfortable shoes. I made the mistake of going during the winter, the cold harsh causes animals to hide in their burrows. In several cages the zoo puts platelets like the animal saying: "sorry, I'm sleeping or hidding, today I do not intend to leave the House, it's too cold! Signed: Lion ". It was frustrating. I believe that the Administration could explain it at the entrance, I'd back. Anyway, this is a very nice (and around the neighbourhood is also interesting, far from Manhattan and tourist areas we see that New York is a city with several problems, like any other megalopolis). DON'T GO if you're too cold (less than 10 degrees), you're going to lose a lot of time to arrive and your visit will surely be frustrating.

  • We went here on the amazing Metro. The zoo cost us 58 dollars to get in. Because it was so cold the animals were all inside. All we saw on our amble was, the back of a gorilla picking his nose, some s...  more »

  • This really is a world class zoo, even if it is a bit dated. Easy to get to from the subway (We went to West Farm). We went on a Wednesday and bought the reduced price all inclusive ticket which was well worth it. Watch out for the black squirrels on the way to the zoo, I didn't even know they existed!
  • Hands down, the best zoo I have ever visited. The only zoo I have ever been to that surpassed the Bronx Zoo was Disney's Animal Kingdom. I think too many locals take the Bronx Zoo for granted. The full-access admission is well worth the price. This zoo is definitely a multi-trip kind of place. You will not be able to fit even half of the sights and activities into one day.
  • Love this zoo. Loved it when I was a kid and now I love bringing my kids to it. This year we visited the treetop adventure. It was worth the long line. My kids had a blast, climbing and being up high. Visiting this zoo will take up your entire day if you want to visit all it has to offer. My kids also enjoys the extras like the butterfly house and merry go round. They have a huge cafeteria, with some vegetarian or non-meat selection.
  • Took my wife here before I proposed to her. Being here helped build up the energy to a great day and and even Bette night. After all, when you live in NYC, not like you see these animals on a regular basis. There was snow on the ground and it was freezing but I have to say seeing some of the imams was pretty cool, especially because it wasn't crowded. Nice and quiet there during the day in the middle of the week. The tiger was probably the best attraction, even though there weren't a lot of animals outside because of the winter season
  • For people using public transport, Bronx zoo is easily accessed using the 2/5 not subway lines from Manhattan. There are several entrances to the zoo and each has a subway station nearby. We went in winter, definitely a bad time to visit the zoo. Most animals were not in their exhibits. Even the seabird aviary was closed so we couldn't see the penguin feeding. Other than that I feel it's a great place to spend a day. The sea lion feeding session is definitely awesome. My personal favorites were the the aquatic birds section and the mouse house.

Where to stay in Bronx

The Bronx is home to a number of mid-range hotels, bed and breakfasts, and inns. As is the case anywhere in the city, eager sightseers should look for something close to a subway station for easy access to the city’s many attractions. However, you should be aware that these areas often get busy and noisy in the morning with commuters. A vacation rental provides a home away from home and plenty of amenities, and many are located in residential neighborhoods that will help you get off the tourist trail.
