  • At least in winter, this park offers a track to skate on ice, in addition to this you can make purchases and drink.

  • A quaint park indeed. With its numerous Sycamore trees, many of which seem to slant in the same direction, to its broad spacious lawn and endless chairs and tables, it's hard to believe it was, at one time, half of the NYC Reservoir (the Library itself making up the other half). Need some time to lounge and eat lunch in the summer sun, or perhaps ice skate during a cold winter's day? Bryant Park is just the place for you... AND your lover! Yes, it IS that nice.
  • The only place one can go ice skating for free! Here is the catch, you need to own a pair of ice skates. Also, lockers are provided for free, but only if you have your own lock. You can rent a lock for a fee. These lockers are not big. 1 square foot, so ladies leave the huge purse home. If you can't stand to leave the huge bag you can check in your bag for a fee. there is also an observation area called the Overlook and guess what? its free! located on the second floor of the Skating Pavilion. It's the perfect place to warm up and watch the skating below. While you sit, enjoy a selection of games, chess, and art supplies, all for free! Overlook may be closed to the public on certain days for private events, Admission-Free Skate Rental-$20 Express Skate-$30 Reserve Skate-$45 (+fees) Helmet Rental-$6 Small Bag Check-$12 Large Bag Check-$15 Lock Purchase-$10 Sock Purchase-$6 Skate Aid-$22/hr Skate Sharpening-$20
  • Bryant Park's Winter Village is very charming! With lots of unique vendors, it's a great place to pick up a last minute Christmas gift. The ice skating rink is a nice place for the kids (and restless grownups) to burn off some energy after wandering through the shops. The overall Christmas decor and spirit is very beautiful. Do take a moment to stroll through!
  • Year round this is a special place, it is the backyard of the beautiful public library. Fun to see lots of adventurous people trying to skate for the first time! Skating is free if you bring your own skates and the skate change area is large and comfortable. The seasonal vendor huts have some nice goods and the layout make for easy strolling. Even more food options are available when it's warmer weather.
  • It's a good opportunity to ice skate during the winter... I like that It's free admission, just have to have your own ice skates and that means having lots of fun this winter. It's a good way to meet new people or have a great time with friends. It has a nice atmosphere. They have ice skate rentals there if anyone just wants to ice skate and don't have their own skates.

Where to stay in New York City

The first step to finding accommodations in New York City is finding the right neighborhood. Manhattan, where most visitors end up, offers some of the most expensive rooms in the world, though there are lower-budget options, such as hostels with shared restrooms. Reduce your costs by basing yourself in one of the outer boroughs, but beware of low-end motels where you may end up sharing the premises with hourly customers. Alternatively, stay along the New Jersey shore, offering all the major chain hotels at considerably lower prices than their Manhattan equivalents.
