  • Before that nothing is important to clarify that visit this Museum takes you much of the day, so I recommend just where the story really interests you. Otherwise it can be a bit tedious. Fascinated me and I really enjoyed the tour.

  • Have been here so many times, but most recently to see the Hockney exhibit. It's great to visit for an entire day, and it would take more than that to get through the entire collection, or for just an...  more »
  • Very didactic, it has many things to see. It has an excellent restaurant on the top floor, but only members may sit next to the window.

  • Best museum in NYC. So much to see in one day that the best thing would be to come early and leave at closing. I would recommend visiting the big exhibits first than move to the smaller exhibits. If you drive into the garage, you will be able to purchase a ticket in the basement. The lines usually move faster in the basement. The recommended price is $25 for residents of NY but you can give whatever you want. For everyone else you will have to pay $25. TIP: If you plan on visiting multiple times it might be worth getting a membership.
  • Excursions to the Metropolitan in Russian Of course the Metropolitan is a huge museum. You can not bypass the day. But you can get free excursions, which are held in the museum not only in English, but in nine languages, including Russian. You can find information about excursions on the museum's website. But, usually, they take place on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 12:30. Stunningly interesting excursions. The best way to get acquainted with the museum. With very different eyes, we looked at this unique collection of works of art brought from all over the world.
  • I've heard about this a lot and wanted to check it out. Although I am an art noob, I loved the museum. Just the size and the vast collection they have is daunting. I would recommend going there early in the morning and spending a whole day there. There's food available inside the museum almost at every section. They also host special exhibits that keep changing over time and it's worth making a trip to watch these. I had especially came to see the Michelangelo's exhibit and one would not be disappointed to spend time here. The best part is the tickets are donation based which gives us the freedom of paying whatever we want. So, students can pay nothing or if you are an art enthusiast and have money, you could pay a hefty amount depending on you. A must watch for anyone visiting New York.
  • This place is great to stop by after a stroll in Central Park. It is near the metro. I came here around 11am, but the line was too long, weather too cold, and I was too hungry to wait in line. If you want to skip all lines, then buy the tickets online for the recommended price. If not, then you can donate any amount at the door (I paid $1) after waiting in line. I went a second time at 4pm and there was no line. The staff didn't care how much I paid. There was an extensive Michelangelo exhibit available as well as some really mind blowing artwork from Rodin. I've been to Louvre, London National Gallery, the Vatican, and El Prado. I can definitely say that for the low entry price, it is definitely worth visiting. Plenty of worthy art to see.
  • The Met presents over 5,000 years of art from around the world for everyone to experience and enjoy. The Museum lives in three iconic sites in New York City—The Met Fifth Avenue. The Metropolitan Museum of Art was founded on April 13, 1870, "to be located in the City of New York, for the purpose of establishing and maintaining in said city a Museum and library of art, of encouraging and developing the study of the fine arts, and the application of arts to manufacture and practical life, of advancing the general knowledge of kindred subjects, and, to that end, of furnishing popular instruction." Since it was founded in 1870, The Met has always aspired to be more than a treasury of rare and beautiful objects. Every day, art comes alive in the Museum's galleries and through its exhibitions and events, revealing both new ideas and unexpected connections across time and across cultures. On January 13, 2015, the Trustees of The Metropolitan Museum of Art reaffirmed this statement of purpose and supplemented it with the following statement of mission: The Metropolitan Museum of Art collects, studies, conserves, and presents significant works of art across all times and cultures in order to connect people to creativity, knowledge, and ideas.

Where to stay in New York City

The first step to finding accommodations in New York City is finding the right neighborhood. Manhattan, where most visitors end up, offers some of the most expensive rooms in the world, though there are lower-budget options, such as hostels with shared restrooms. Reduce your costs by basing yourself in one of the outer boroughs, but beware of low-end motels where you may end up sharing the premises with hourly customers. Alternatively, stay along the New Jersey shore, offering all the major chain hotels at considerably lower prices than their Manhattan equivalents.
