#6 of 48 in Parks in Seattle
Learn about one of the last great prospecting adventures at Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. The Cadillac Hotel is your first stop on the trail. This site was once the initial supply point for prospectors headed to the Yukon. Explore the temporary exhibits and pick up a map of the original Chilkoot Trail that settlers used to reach the wild lands where they hoped to strike it rich. This is the only international historical park shared by Canada and the United States, as the park extends up to Alaska. The park includes historical settler towns and Dawson City. A visit to Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Seattle trip maker site to plot your vacation.

  • The museum is free. I highly recommend spending a little time to learn the origins of Seattle and what propelled it to become a mega city through the discovery of gold in Alaska.  more »
  • We stumbled across this museum after recommendaruon from a tour guide ar beneath the streets tour. It's intriguing, very well laid out and full of information. I would encourage families to visit and ...  more »
  • We visited on a Friday late in January at 4.30 (closed at 5) & we were virtually the only people in there. It's free! As we only had 1/2 hour we had to rush round but there was loads of info to read &...  more »

  • A (100% free )National Park Museum right in Downtown Seattle?!?!...Yes Please! Really fun place to burn 60-90 mins while waiting for a ferry or before a game/match at the stadiums. Its a well kept secret so don't plan on any lines or crowds but remember to check out the 'wheel of fortune' and see if you were one of the lucky few that would've struck it rich!
  • Very nice little museum. Good place to learn about one of the most important events in early Seattle history. I played the computer game Yukon Trail a lot as a kid, so I thought it was pretty cool to find out more about the real life experiences of people heading north back then. It's not the kind of place where you'd plan a whole trip just to go there, but if you're in the area anyway (Pioneer Square, International District, football/baseball/soccer game), I definitely recommend stopping by.
  • Very nice, free museum to stroll through. I learned a lot of new things! It's not huge, but also doesn't feel like a wasted time. There's also super clean restrooms and drinking fountains that are available to the public.
  • Really cool exhibit of the Gold Rush days. It's a Historical Park so bring your Park Passport. The National Parks store is adjacent so you can pick up books about the area.
  • If you like history, this is definitely a place to check out! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable!
