  • We took the family here and had a wonderful day seeing all of the animals. My daughter rode a camel and one of our FAVORITE things was feeding the budgies, NO NOT MISS THIS!  more »
  • We parked a ways away and had to take a complementary bus from the paring area. I heard that there was 8,000+ people. But even with all those people it was not a crowded experience. Lots of new light ...  more »
  • We visit almost every week. It's a great place to take a walk or a class. And we live about 20 minutes away. During the winter, months, you virtually have the zoo to yourself during the week. Get a me...  more »

  • A great place for the family. For years our family has been going to the Woodland Park Zoo (which is another zoo we love) in Seattle. It wasn't til last year that our family decided to try the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma and I'm glad we did. First getting to the Point Defiance is so it's much easier than getting to the Woodland Park Zoo. Especially if you're staying on the south side of Seattle. The price is about the same as the Woodland Park Zoo and the selection of animals is just as good. The park itself is smaller and if you have little kids that makes it much easier for them to get around. The shows that are provided involve some of the animals at the zoo and are very well done and very entertaining for the kids and adults alike. If you're going to make a day of it the best suggestion I can make to you is to take a picnic lunch. You can go in and out of the zoo as many times as you want during the day and the zoo is surrounded by Point Defiance Park, with plenty of picnic spots to choose from, including ocean views and woodlands.
  • We went there August 21st 2017 for the solar eclipse I have to say we had a great time price for 2 adults and 1 kids $44 we got to see a lot of animals. I really enjoy the view, my girl went in the camel ride for the first time. We eat fish and chips that was great too. What a great day!
  • Smaller and less entertaining than I expected or hoped for. But the grounds are kept nice and they have a great kids area. Food options are not impressive and can be timely. Gift shop was way overpriced.
  • It's a small zoo but has animals most zoos in the US dont have. Only about 8 zoos have walruses. There's also clouded leopards, polar bears, and red wolves that don't show up in most zoos. My kids favorite are the sharks because they get to see their teeth just a few inches from their own eyes. I would give 5 stars if it weren't for the elephants. Just 2 in a very tiny area makes me sad. They need more friends and more room.
  • The zoo and aquarium were okay; though a little over-priced for what you get. The workers were informative and friendly. The cafe however was disgusting. There were about 15 workers or more, most of which were standing around helping themselves to kettle corn with their bare hands while the floor and tables were covered in crumbs, trash, and spilt drinks. I ordered the pesto chicken sandwich and it was disgusting; it tasted like a piece of charcoal between a potato bun. Would not come back.
